Founding Full-Stack Engineer (AI-Native) — Remote

EngineeringRemoteFull-Time

Description

About Founding.dev

Founding.dev replaces expensive, bloated SaaS with AI-operable software built specifically for how each business operates.

Businesses tell us the tools they're trying to replace. We build software around their actual workflow, run and maintain it for a flat monthly fee, and they own the code and data. No per-seat pricing, no lock-in. If they leave, they keep everything.

The result: one system instead of a dozen subscriptions, and software costs cut by up to 70%. We're building the team that makes this the way every business gets software.

The role

This is not a take-a-ticket, close-a-ticket job. You'll be an early, senior engineer who owns real products end to end — architecture, code, infrastructure, and the customer on the other end.

You'll work on two fronts:

1. Our AI SaaS builder — the platform where LLM agents plan, build, deploy, and maintain full apps for non-technical business owners. Real distributed systems: agent orchestration, retrieval-grounded generation, live app previews, and a build-and-deploy pipeline safe enough to hand to someone who's never opened a terminal.

2. SaaS-replacement templates — our growing library of production-grade apps. We deploy one to replace a customer's off-the-shelf tool fast, then tailor it to them.

You'll talk to customers directly, ship things that work, and define your own work.

What you'll actually work on

  • Build and harden the AI agent platform: orchestration, agentic workflows, retrieval/memory (RAG), the plan → build → verify → deploy loop, and the connectors that let agents use third-party tools on a customer's behalf.

  • Design the reusable SaaS-replacement templates we deploy and customize per client.

  • Own infrastructure. This is an infra-heavy product — isolated per-project cloud environments, build/deploy automation, scaling, reliability, and security all sit close to the code.

  • Make generated software fast, correct, and safe to own. Real quality gates, real verification, real security — customers depend on apps they didn't write.

  • Contribute to our open-source template library, and turn "I'm drowning in SaaS fees" into shipped, owned software.

Our stack

  • Frontend: React + TypeScript, Tailwind, real-time UI (WebSockets)

  • Backend: Node.js / Express, MongoDB, Postgres (with vector search), Redis + job queues

  • AI: multiple LLM providers, agentic workflows and orchestration, RAG (vector + keyword retrieval), embeddings, tool-use / connector integrations

  • Templates & customer apps: commonly Python (Django/FastAPI) and Node/Next.js — you'll build across stacks

  • Infra / DevOps: containerized cloud infrastructure, isolated per-project environments, CI/CD, GitHub integration, AWS

You don't need to have shipped this exact stack. You do need to be dangerous in TypeScript/Node and React, comfortable in Python, solid on infra/DevOps, and curious about how LLM agent systems work under the hood.

What we're looking for

  • Strong full-stack fundamentals in Node.js + React/TypeScript, and solid Python.

  • You've built with LLMs and understand how they work — agentic workflows, context, retrieval, tool use, evaluation, and where models break. Not just prompting a chatbot.

  • Real infra/DevOps chops — containerization, CI/CD, cloud deployment, monitoring, scaling. You own what runs in production, not just what compiles.

  • You own correctness. You don't ship code you can't explain. LLMs generate fast and confidently; verification, tests, and judgment are the human's job.

  • You work autonomously — you define the work, make the architecture call, and answer for the outcome.

  • You've shipped real things to real users, with public or open-source code to show.

  • You can talk to a non-technical business owner without jargon and turn their pain into software.

  • The tools change every month. You stay sharp on purpose.

Nice to have

  • Building LLM agents, agentic workflows, RAG systems, or tool/connector integrations

  • Distributed systems, job queues, containerized/multi-tenant workloads

  • Strong cloud/DevOps or platform-engineering background

  • Early engineer or technical founder experience

Why join

  • Real ownership — of products, architecture, infra, and outcomes. No ticket queues, no legacy mess, no middlemen.

  • Frontier work — an AI system that autonomously ships production software, not a chatbot bolted onto a form.

  • Direct impact — the software you build replaces a customer's expensive subscription and saves them money every month.

  • AI-native culture — we use LLMs aggressively and hold a high bar for what ships.

  • Fully remote, full-time.

If you want to help us kill the SaaS Tax, apply with your GitHub/portfolio and one thing you've shipped that you're proud of.
